Sultan bin Sulayem: Dubai offers best port and free zone facilitations and customs services for the travel retail trade.
DUBAI – His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, inaugurated on November 25, 2014 the Middle East Exclusive (MEE), the region’s leading international trade fair for travel retail, duty free and luxury goods.
The fair is bringing together product suppliers and leading retail buyers from around the world for its trade show from the 25th to 27th November 2014 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Hundreds of luxury trademarks are on display by 36 global companies. The fair is seeing a huge influx of visitors and retail companies.
Bin Sulayem said: ”Dubai has become one of the prominent travel retail hubs worldwide. The hike in passenger traffic in the first nine months of 2014 to 52.4 million passengers led to flourishing duty free shops in the emirate and thriving trade of luxury products.”
He went on to say, “Dubai reinforces its foothold as a global and regional hub for trade and businesses by leveraging the travel retail trade and presenting an integrated tourist product for tourists and shoppers. This comes in line with the strategic plans to promote the roles assumed by tourism and trade in Dubai economy, in fulfilment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, IAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, of a diversified economic structure.”
