Ski travel trends 2014 – 2015 according to trivago.co.uk

France is by far the most popular country this ski season, with six of the top ten destinations located in the Rhone-Alpes region. It is encouraging, however, to see British travellers beginning to try new ski destinations, with resorts in Bulgaria and Andorra also in the top ten.

LONDON  – Chamonix is the most popular ski resort this season, according to new data from hotel search website trivago.co.uk. At an average of £288 per night for a standard double room, Val d’Isere is the most expensive. The resort with the best rated hotels is St. Anton, with a reputation ranking index of 85.59%.

Val d’Isere, Meribel and St. Anton are by far the most expensive ski resorts this season, at an average of £288, £278 and £260 per night respectively for a standard double room. It is easy to see why Brits are heading to Andorra and Bulgaria instead, with prices at £47 (Bansko), £55 (Borovets) and £103 (Arinsal). One night in Val d’Isere is on average six times more expensive than one night in Bansko.

St. Anton has the best rated hotels out of the top ten ski resorts this season, based on over 140 million aggregated hotel ratings. Bansko is undoubtedly the best value destination, with both the cheapest and the second best rated hotels. Meribel, in comparison, offers the worst value for money – the hotels are the second most expensive and the least favourably rated.
