Low cost airline Azul adopts Amadeus Altea Reservation to support international expansion

Amadeus’ Altea Reservation and ticketing platform will support Azul’s evolution to offer international flights to destinations in the US, as well as enabling the airline to be ready for future growth including interline agreements and partnerships.

MADRID – Amadeus and Azul Brazilian Airlines, a leading Brazilian low cost carrier, announce the airline’s successful adoption of Amadeus’ Altea Reservation and ticketing platform.

As Azul’s business model evolves from point-to-point domestic flights to include new low-cost, long-haul services to international destinations including Fort Lauderdale / Miami and Orlando, the airline needed a flexible and modular approach to modernizing its IT systems.

The implementation of Amadeus’ Altea Reservation platform was completed successfully in just three months enabling the airline to handle the increased complexity associated with international flights. Following implementation, Azul’s international flights can now be viewed, searched and purchased through any sales channel both direct and indirect including connections via any distribution system.

Importantly, the airline is now able to take advantage of a wide variety of future partnership options.

“Azul is a great example of a low cost airline that is innovating with its approach to growth. We are increasingly seeing low cost airlines adjusting their business models to enable continued growth and a flexible, function-rich IT system such as Altea can support access to new markets, increase sales opportunities and facilitate industry partnerships. We look forward to further supporting Azul as it develops its international business,” added John Dabkowski, Vice President, Airline Commercial at Amadeus.
