Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria unveils completed renovation

Hotel in Houston completes floor-to-ceiling renovation for guests' comfort and convenience.

HOUSTON – Exceeding guests’ travel expectations, Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria celebrates the completion of multi-million dollar renovation.

Situated in the heart of the vibrant city, the Galleria Houston hotel amazes guests with the aftermath of the extensive renovation the second they step into the lobby. As the largest project in the West Houston hotel’s 38-year history, the two-phase venture included a floor-to-ceiling revitalization of the lobby, front desk, food and beverage outlets and meeting and event spaces.

The first phase of the Galleria Houston hotel’s renovation was completed in September 2014, revitalizing the lounge, portions of the lobby and main restaurant, business center, Sapphire Room, main stairwell and porte-cochere.

Beginning in September 2014, the River Oaks hotel pursued the second phase of the re-imagination that included the front desk, front office, main restaurant, breakfast buffet, lobby restrooms and remaining portions of the lobby. The renovation went from concept to completion, wrapping up towards the end of November after nearly three months.

“Our renovation was undertaken with our guests’ comfort and convenience in mind,” said Reed Randolph, general manager of Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria. “We’re excited that our vision has come to life and hope it exceeds visitors’ expectations.”

Taking portions of the former lobby, meeting space, business center and lounge, a large part of the Galleria hotel’s renovation was dedicated to reinventing former spaces into a three-meal Greatroom. Some of the most valuable public space existing in Marriott hotels, the Greatroom integrates all the aspects visitors desire during travel, creating an open, inviting place for guests to relax, socialize and indulge in refreshments. The space provides food and beverages and tremendous flexibility, accommodating both business and leisure travelers alike. A feature stairwell descends through the middle of the new bar and lounge, leading guests to and from the Glass Palace in style.

Embracing Marriott’s next generation meeting experiences, the River Oaks hotel transformed the former restaurant into a new meeting space. With an understanding of today’s business travelers’ innovative, global and collaborative modes of work, Marriott created a space more inviting and accommodating for modern-day guests. Breaking away from boardroom business as usual, the new space enhances productivity with a variety of smaller areas to meet in small groups or get the deal done privately, all while staying connected.

Bringing a more upscale and airy atmosphere to the contemporary hotel, all current ceiling areas were raised 4 feet to 6 feet. Additional enhancements include floor foundation re-surfacing and the replacement of carpet and floor tiles.
