Heathrow completes sale of Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports

John Holland-Kaye, Chief Executive of Heathrow, said 'This sale enables us to focus on improving Heathrow for passengers and winning support for Heathrow expansion. Heathrow is the UK’s only hub airport, connecting all of Britain to global growth and bringing economic benefits locally and nationally.'

Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited has completed the sale of Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports to a consortium formed by Macquarie and Ferrovial.

John Holland-Kaye, Chief Executive of Heathrow, said: “Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports and their people have been part of our company for a long time. They are great airports and we are proud of their achievements. We wish the new owners and our airport colleagues every success and are confident the airports will continue to flourish.

This sale enables us to focus on improving Heathrow for passengers and winning support for Heathrow expansion. Heathrow is the UK’s only hub airport, connecting all of Britain to global growth and bringing economic benefits locally and nationally.”

“Today Southampton Airport becomes part of AGS Airports Ltd. AGS is an equal partnership between Ferrovial and Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets (MIRA), owning Southampton, Glasgow and Aberdeen Airports. A new Chairman of AGS Ltd, Sir Peter Mason, has been appointed.

We will still continue to operate independently as an airport under local management in a similar way to before. It is very much “business as usual” as we head into the busy Christmas period. We are pleased to be welcoming Southampton Airport’s new owners as we enter the next exciting phase of this award winning airport”, said Dave Lees, Managing Director, Southampton Airport.
