CALGARY, Alberta – Providing a satisfying stay for guests while protecting the environment they live in, Residence Inn Calgary Airport has been accepted as an official GreenPartner by the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program.

Identifying green accommodations across the country, the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program was designed to help travellers plan environmentally friendly trips. The prestigious program was developed in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program, the U.S. Green Building Council and the United Nations Environment Programme.

As an official GreenPartner, the CrossIron Mills hotel has met the five tiers required by the program including having linen and towel re-use plans, tracking energy usage on a regular basis, recycling, using energy-efficient light bulbs and educating staff and guests on green practices, as well as implementing additional green initiatives.

TripAdvisor GreenLeaders are leading the hospitality industry in making efforts to improve their environmental footprint,” said Jenny Rushmore, director of responsible travel at TripAdvisor. “We greatly applaud these accommodations and are pleased to share their eco-friendly practices with our online audience of more than 260 million travellers who visit the site each month.”
