G6 Hospitality opens 112 properties in 2014, grows network to 1,200 locations

The 2014 openings, which represent an increase to growth of 24 percent as compared to 2013, were fueled by more than 125 high-quality deal signings – most notably the signing of an area development agreement with Latina Promohoteles, a subsidiary of Promodesa Comercial.

DALLAS – G6 Hospitality, known for its iconic economy lodging brands, Motel 6 and Studio 6 in the U.S. and Canada, announced today the opening of 112 locations in 2014, a record for the brand that grows its portfolio of properties to more than 1,200 locations. All openings occurred under franchise contracts, including 106 Motel 6 and six Studio 6 properties in the U.S. and Canada, representing an added room count of 8,561.

The 2014 openings, which represent an increase to growth of 24 percent as compared to 2013, were fueled by more than 125 high-quality deal signings – most notably the signing of an area development agreement with Latina Promohoteles, a subsidiary of Promodesa Comercial, which marks the beginning of the expansion of G6 Hospitality’s network to Latin America, starting in Mexico. Under this agreement, up to 55 properties will be developed by 2020 in Mexico with the brands Hotel 6 and Estudio 6.

“We’re proud to report another very good year of network growth, representing significant progress in our franchise expansion and performance in 2014,” said Jim Amorosia, President and CEO of G6 Hospitality. “The stage is set for a strong 2015, where we hope to continue to outperform our segment and the industry while introducing our lodging brands to key international markets.”

In 2015, G6 Hospitality is forecasting up to 200 new signings and 170 new property openings, including its first in international markets outside of the U.S. and Canada.

With its expansive network, ambitious renovation efforts, and the longstanding appeal of its Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, G6 Hospitality is the leader of the economy lodging segment in the U.S. and Canada.
