Wyndham Worldwide receives industry leader, Gold Class in sustainability from RobecoSAM

Global hospitality company only U.S. company recognized in the hotels, resorts & cruise lines segment.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Wyndham Worldwide announced that RobecoSAM, an investment asset management firm, has recognized the company as a 2015 Gold Class Sustainability Leader in its annual Sustainability Yearbook. This is the second consecutive year the Company has been included in the Sustainability Yearbook, receiving the Silver Class rating last year.

The Sustainability Yearbook lists the world’s most sustainable companies in each industry and provides thought-provoking snapshots of the main trends, challenges and opportunities with the aim to bridge the gap between corporate sustainability and sustainability investing. In addition to being within the top 15 percent of their industry, companies needed to achieve a score within 30 percent of the best-performing company in their industry to be included. Wyndham Worldwide is the only company in the United States recognized with SAM’s Gold Class sustainability rating in the Hotels, Resorts & Cruise Lines.

“As a global hospitality leader with businesses across virtually every segment of hospitality, this latest recognition reflects our successful approach of implementing corporate responsibility initiatives across our operations and business strategies,” said Mary Falvey, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, Wyndham Worldwide. “Corporate Responsibility remains among our top strategic intents, and not only do we measure success on our results, but also on the responsible way in which we achieve those results, but it is critical to the success of our business and our ability to meet our customers’ growing needs and expectations.”

As part of its overall Corporate Responsibility (CR) strategy, Wyndham Worldwide aligns business performance with a responsible approach in its operations around the world. The Company’s sustainability practices are created and driven by its Wyndham Green program, which works to deliver “triple bottom line” results for its people, the planet and profits.

“Achieving Gold Class in Sustainability is a tremendous recognition of the innovative collaboration among our associates, customers, owners, suppliers, business and community partners who have helped create and grow our shared vision, and our ability to deliver improvements across a broad range of objectives,” said Faith Taylor, senior vice president of corporate responsibility, Wyndham Worldwide. “Being recognized for our diligent and focused work is a testament to our culture and holistic commitment to not only environmental, but also to social and governance programs.”

In addition to the Sustainability Yearbook, Wyndham Worldwide was also named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North American and World Indices in 2014, for which the RobecoSAM Group has responsibility for evaluation and admission, showing strong performance across the assessed criteria, specifically in the areas of its Environmental and Economic programs. The S&P Dow Jones Indices are one of the most recognized sustainability performance rating tools, with the Sustainability Index identifying leaders in the areas of sustainable economic, environmental and social performance.
