The birth of a new exClone introduces Artificial Intelligence to the travel industry

Phil the Voyager chats with the user to help them discover travel spots around the globe from over 30,000 destinations, and provides information along with photos and videos in a friendly interactive environment.

exClone Inc. announced the release of version-V of their exClone technology along with a new exClone, named Phil the Voyager. Phil chats with the user to help them discover travel spots around the globe from over 30,000 destinations, and provides information along with photos and videos in a friendly interactive environment.

Phil is accessible for private testing. The site will be open to Facebook users for a limited period. A full-scale commercial operation will be launched later this year.

Phil the Voyager is a prime example of the difference between Search and Chat, and why Chat is the most effective form of communication a person can experience. Search inhibits efficiency, using only a single query at a time, whereas Chat is dynamic, poignant, compelling and personal. Consider this comparison:

Search: Where can I go in the Caribbean and the Bahamas?
Chat: I like sandy beaches, an island environment, and a small authentic town where I can snorkel. I prefer to be close to some historical sites. It should be convenient for family travel although I wouldn’t mind some bars too. I enjoy spicy Thai food. My kids love dolphins, and a dolphin sanctuary close by would be ideal. I prefer the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Where should I go?

Imagine trying to accomplish this one query at a time using Google or any other search engine. The Chat shown above is much more thorough with no limit to its “depth”. Now with Phil the Voyager and the Chat technology, one can discover the best travel spots based on a conversation. Phil also asks critical questions that may not come to mind, helping the user find the best results most efficiently. For a similar experience in today’s travel industry, one would have to talk directly to an experienced human travel agent.

In today’s world, machines that don’t “learn” and “adapt” are destined to remain stuck to their factory-setting capability, and will fail to satisfy progressive, social demands for enhanced user-interface and evolving technologies. Chatting enables learning. For travel spots already visited by the user, Phil learns the positive and negative aspects of a location based on the user’s experiences. This component makes Phil an organic system, constantly learning and growing to expand its knowledge, just like all other exCLones.

One can imagine a similar communication problem in finding a product, solving a technical problem, or identifying the root causes of an issue. Similar to the travel industry, these problems must be solved every day in finance, law, health, business, and in many other areas.

“Phil the Voyager shows the importance of a Chat solution versus a mere Search solution, and Phil paves the way for turning websites into Talksites” said Etienne Paris, the spokesperson for the Project. Paris added, “with such a transformation finally within our grasp, search engines are likely to lose their dominance as Talksites rise in functionality, importance, ease of use, efficiency and fun.” Phil the Voyager offers “cloned vertical expertise”, a glimpse of the future, now – and a new way to solve today’s problems.
