Decision-makers choose Copenhagen

Coming off a record-breaking year in 2014 in terms of congress and event wins, Copenhagen has won yet another prestigious congress: The 2016 AC Forum Annual Meeting.

The 2016 Annual Meeting of the Association and Conference Forum is expected to draw a small but influential group of powerful decision-makers from international meeting associations to Copenhagen.

Around 70 members of associations that primarily stage medical and clean tech industry conferences with 3,000+ delegates will gather in the Danish capital in January.

Daniel Waigl, AC Forum President, comments on why Copenhagen was chosen as the host city: “Copenhagen is known as a world-class congress destination, providing good infrastructure and the required logistical services for both small and large events. It is a safe and attractive city, home to strong life science and clean tech industries, both being of specific interest to our member associations. Many of us have already successfully staged a congress in Copenhagen or plan to do so in the years to come.”

The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) Offshore 2015, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2016 Congress, and the Congress of European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) 2016, are some of the important congresses that members of AC Forum have already chosen to stage in Copenhagen.

David Waigl continues: “The bidding document from the Copenhagen convention bureau to host the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Association and Conference Forum was very well done and contained all elements required for a successful application. We are very much looking forward to another exciting Association and Conference Forum Meeting and the further collaboration with all stakeholders from Copenhagen.”

The 2016 Annual Meeting of the Association and Conference Forum was won by a collective effort from Wonderful Copenhagen and BC Hospitality Group.

What makes Copenhagen an attractive host city? Copenhagen’s is ranked one of the most  popular congress cities in the world, and is easy and safe to reach and navigate in.

Copenhagen is a knowledge hub where some of the strong points are within the life science and clean tech industries, and the city invests heavily in development of these particular fields. The area just north of Copenhagen is nicknamed ‘Medicon Valley’ due to an abundance of medical businesses, and a new healthtech lab has just been launched.

Copenhagen’s meeting product offers that extra something having made sustainable meetings management a key priority and focusing on meetings design, recently embodied by the Danish Meetovation Concept which focuses on sustainability, involvement the design of the room, local inspiration and return on meeting investment.
