Lisbon top Easter destination for Britons

momondo finds 41% of Brits are planning city breaks this year. Travel site discovers 71% of Brits prefer to explore cities by foot when away.

Travel search site momondo.co.uk has analysed its flight search data, to determine where Brits are travelling to for the Easter break, between 2nd and 6th April, 2015.

In a recent survey, momondo found that 41% of Brits are planning a city break in 2015.

And momondo’s top 10 most-popular countries for Easter are all classic city break destinations – perfect for short trips away to explore a new place.

Portugal’s cultural capital Lisbon came out top, with Amsterdam second-most popular with its short flight, followed by foodie favourite, Barcelona.

The data was based on all searches for flights travelling from London, made from September 17th 2014 to 24th February, 2015.

Nothing beats shanks’s pony…
This May is National Walking Month and in terms of the ways of exploring a city, momondo also found that 71% of Britons prefer to see the sights on foot. This is compared to 27% of Brits who prefer to hop and off the tourist buses, 19% who prefer guided city tours 19%, 8% who prefer to hire bikes, 22% who like to take local buses, 11% who taxi around, 19% who hire cars and 21% who take the metro, when on a city break.
