Localeur debuts in New Orleans and Portland

Startup continues expansion around U.S. with focus on Millennial travelers.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – On the heels of its second anniversary since launching at South by Southwest 2013, Localeur announced the additions of New Orleans, La., and Portland, Ore., to its community of locals. These new city launches mark the first new cities added by the company in 2015 after launching five cities in 2013 and seven cities in 2014.

“New Orleans and Portland are two of the most locally-savvy cities in America, if not the world,” said co-founder and CEO Joah Spearman. “When we looked at our current footprint in the U.S. and the qualities we like to see in new markets, these two amazing cities stood out both for their exceptional local business communities and the vibrancy of Millennials in each market.”

Locals and travelers can visit Localeur.com or download Localeur’s native iOS app and access recommendations for both New Orleans and Portland ranging from “Portland’s Most Iconic Music Venues” to “NOLA’s Best Boozy Brunch Spots”. The startup plans to add additional recommendations for each of these cities, as it has done in its first 12 markets, on a weekly basis.

Localeur, which initially launched in Austin at SXSW 2013, was named the year’s best new startup by Austin Monthly later that year, and more recently has been named one of the top travel apps in 2015 by Forbes, The New York Times, Men’s Journal, MTV and others.

Localeur has built a community of Millennial influencers in a dozen major U.S. cities including (listed in order of launch): Austin, Houston, San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Miami, Seattle and Washington, D.C. Localeur anticipates expansion to as many as a dozen more major U.S. cities in 2015 and says international expansion is on the horizon, as well.

To date, Localeur has raised roughly $1.2 million from angel investors including Heather Brunner, CEO of WP Engine, Mike Murphy, former chief revenue officer for Facebook, and Steve Pamon, head of sports and entertainment marketing for JPMorganChase.
