Fairfield Inn Portland Maine Mall announces new electric vehicle charging station

Ribbon cutting ceremony for EV Charging Station will be held on April 20th.

SCARBOROUGH, MAINE – The Fairfield Inn Portland Maine Mall, recently announced the addition of an Electric Vehicle Charging station to the hotel campus, which will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 20th.

The South Portland hotel conveniently located off I-95/Maine Turnpike in Scarborough is excited to offer a 40 amp Sun Country Highway Charging Unit. This is an ideal for an EV charging station because the Portland Metro area is one of the first major cities that electric vehicle travelers from Canada will encounter along their route south.

To celebrate this new eco-friendly amenity at Fairfield Inn Portland Maine Mall, the hotel will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony. This event is scheduled for April 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the hotel. All are invited to attend. “The government leaders in the Greater Portland area are in agreement that installing electric vehicle charging stations in the region is the right move for our environment and our businesses by encouraging green travel and tourism to our area,” says Jeff Barnett, General Manager of Fairfield Inn Portland Maine Mall.

The new EV Charging station in Scarborough, ME is open to overnight guests only. Located in the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn at 2 Cummings Rd. Patrons of Sun Country Highway’s station will stay at the Fairfield Inn Portland Maine Mall, while their electric vehicles re-charge. FREE local shuttle service is provided so a charging vehicle does not mean you have to sit inside. While in South Portland, take in the beauty that the Portland Region has to offer; see Portland Headlight, or one of the 5 other lighthouses within a 20 minute drive; enjoy a Portland Seadogs Game at Hadlock Field; or shop till you drop at the Maine Mall only ½ mile away.
