Volaris now ventures into Central America

As part of integral expansion plan, the carrier announces new operations to Guatemala.

MEXICO CITY – Volaris, the ultra low cost Mexican airline with the widest route network servicing Mexico and the US, announced today their first time venture into a Central American market, with the launch of two new flights to Ciudad Guatemala from Cancun, Quintana Roo and Guadalajara, Jalisco, effective June 18 and operating twice a week.

As part of the carrier’s integral expansion plan, Volaris selected Guatemala as their first destination in the Central American region to initiate their operations, given the country’s significant growth potential and a strong demand for low cost air travel services.

“I am very proud to announce today that for the first time, Volaris will land in Central America,” said Enrique Beltranena, Volaris CEO. “With this announcement not only do we reiterate solid growth for our airline, but also, a firm commitment towards our Customers, to provide them with greater air connectivity and the lowest fares available in the market.”

Pedro Duchez, Director of the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT) commented: “Today we are more than pleased with the announcement that the airline Volaris will start operations in our country and offer low-cost fares that will connect Guatemala with major destinations in Mexico and the United States, which are priority markets.”

“The relationship we are now consolidating with Volaris unquestionably will result in a positive impact for our country to open more possibilities for connecting Guatemala with high potential markets, including Europe through its international partnerships,” concluded the director.

To date, Volaris is the airline with the widest route network servicing Mexico and the US. The carrier has transported over 49 million passengers since it started operating in 2006, and this number continues on the rise as a result of more than 230 daily flights operated to 58 leading destinations, including 38 in Mexico and 20 in the US.
