The idea first conceived by Eric Bakermans (Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions) and Matthias Schultze (German Convention Bureau) has rapidly gained popularity over the year and now has 17 members.
On 24 – 25 September 2015 a meeting between the directors of European national convention bureaus will take place in Warsaw. Strategic partnership is a first of its kind initiative aimed at strengthening the global position of Europe as a place for meetings and events.
The idea first conceived by Eric Bakermans (Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions) and Matthias Schultze (German Convention Bureau) has rapidly gained popularity over the year and now has 17 members. The purpose of this informal group of European national convention bureaus is the exchange of knowledge, as well as cooperation in order to improve the position of each of the members, and to strengthen Europe’s position as a leading continent in the organisation of business events in the world.
“An alliance of national, European congresses and meetings’ bureaus is an opportunity to exchange views, set common strategies and discuss the role of Europe in the global meetings market. I am very glad that this time the directors of all national convention bureaus will visit Warsaw at the invitation of the Poland Torist Organisation” says Krzysztof Celuch, head of PCB PTO.
Warsaw Convention Bureau is aiming to position the capital of Poland as the most important emerging destination in Central & Eastern Europe and this initiative is really valuable. “We believe that when current and future trends of congress and incentive market are taken under consideration – Europe is going to be an extremely attractive alternative for international meeting planners. Coalition of national convention bureaus will not only serve as a platform for exchanging experience but it will also strengthen the MICE offer of the entire region” adds Mateusz Czerwinski, Warsaw Convention Bureau Director.
