Transaero Airlines celebrates 20th anniversary of its flights to Germany

Over the past 20 years Transaero has operated more than 8,000 flights between Russia and Germany and has carried 1.4 million passengers between the two countries.

MOSCOW – Transaero Airlines carried out the first scheduled flight to Germany on the Moscow-Berlin-Frankfurt-Moscow route 20 years ago in the spring of 1995.

Over the past 20 years Transaero has operated more than 8,000 flights between Russia and Germany and has carried 1.4 million passengers between the two countries.

Upon arrival at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) on the 24th of April, 2015, the Transaero’s flight to FRA was met by three “follow-me” vehicles providing the honorary escort on the apron to the official reception at the terminal gate. During the ceremony at the terminal gate, representatives of Transaero Airlines and Frankfurt Airport cut the special jubilee cake and treated passengers of the outbound Frankfurt-Moscow flight.

Alexander Ignatov, Deputy CEO Transaero Airlines, said: “Transaero Airlines expresses its sincere gratitude to our partners – Frankfurt Airport and Berlin Tegel Airport – for the longstanding successful cooperation, which provides for the constantly growing passenger traffic between Russia and Germany. We are certain that our cooperation will remain positive and fruitful, and Transaero Airlines will continue increase its passenger traffic on flights to Germany”.

Winfried Hartmann, Senior Vice President Sales of Fraport AG, the Frankfurt Airport company, said, “We are proud to honor Transaero’s two decades of service on the Moscow to Frankfurt service – an important milestone for both companies. Thank you for the excellent cooperation and we look forward to the next decades of ongoing growth and success here at Germany’s largest hub. Transaero’s addition of a seventh weekly flight to Frankfurt for the 2015 summer timetable underscores the vitality of this cooperation.”

Transaero Airlines also takes an active part in implementing the City of Frankfurt’s programme aimed at attracting tourists from Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as promoting the image of Frankfurt – not only as a major global business center but also as city with unique architecture and other attractions.
