HotelTonight expands global offering to Australia and Caribbean

Leading last-minute booking app establishes offices in Sydney to support growth in region.

SAN FRANCISCO – HotelTonight, the leading global last-minute hotel booking app, announced it has opened a new office in Sydney, Australia and is expanding its offering for travelers within Australia and throughout the Caribbean.

HotelTonight’s office in Sydney will allow the company to better support travelers within the Asia/Pacific region. Australian travelers will now be able to book great local deals at top-rated hotels for stays secured from seven days in advance up to the last minute. In addition to Sydney, HotelTonight had added hotel deals in Melbourne and will be rolling out additional cities over the next several months. Notable hotels in Australia include the 1888 Hotel, The Darling, The Lyall and TFE Hotels Group. The HotelTonight app has been operating in beta in the country for the last month, and is now fully available for travelers on iOS and Android.

“Australians are known to travel the world and have an inherent sense of adventure and spontaneity. Now, they can maximize that sense of adventure in exploring their own backyard, with access to great last-minute deals on fantastic hotels across the continent,” said Sam Shank, co-founder and CEO, HotelTonight. “In addition to being better able to understand and interact with the local community, our new office affords us the opportunity to establish a greater presence in the Asia/Pacific market as we continue our global expansion.”

HotelTonight is also adding two additional Caribbean destinations to its expanding international roster: the Dominican Republic and Bahamas. The company launched its first Caribbean destination, Puerto Rico, in 2013, and has seen increasing demand and searches within the HotelTonight app for other island destinations throughout the region. Travelers can now book at popular chains such as Viva Wyndham, Barcelo, Bahia Principe and Hard Rock All-Inclusive Collection, and the company plans to continue to add Caribbean destinations over the next several months.

“The Caribbean is a draw at any time of year – whether it’s New Yorkers escaping the winter chill or Floridians looking for a quick weekend away – and additional access to great deals in these hot locations makes it even easier for people to secure a last-minute getaway,” continued Shank.

HotelTonight is now available in more than 30 countries, including Russia, which launched earlier this year.

How HotelTonight Works

  • Book rooms on HotelTonight for tonight or up to a week out, at over 15,000 hotels in more than 500 destinations across the globe.
  • Hotel rooms can be easily booked via the app in less than 10 seconds – just three taps and a swipe from app launch to completed booking.
  • All hotels are vetted by the HotelTonight team, given a style category (like Basic, Hip or Luxe) and illustrated by mobile-optimized hotel photos.
  • As the check-in date approaches and rooms remain unsold, hotels drop their rates. HotelTonight plays matchmaker between these hotels and guests who are looking for a great deal at a great hotel.
  • HotelTonight also offers exclusive, localized rates that are customized to a specific city or neighborhood, offering even greater discounts to spur spontaneous adventures.

By building strong relationships with hotel partners and guiding them in offering exclusive, unprecedented discounts to travelers, HotelTonight is continuing on its never-ending quest to make the travel and booking experience simple, fun and useful for all parties.
