World Travel Market 2015 Premier Partner is Mexico

World Travel Market is delighted to announce Mexico as its Premier Partner for WTM 2015.

Mexico has become WTM 2015’s Premier Partner as part of the country’s promotion in the UK. 2015 has been designated as The Year of Mexico in the UK and the UK in Mexico and is seeing an exchange of art, culture, science, academia, business and tourism of which the WTM Premier Partnership is a key initiative.

Mexico will use the WTM Premier Partnership to promote the diversity of its tourism products; which includes 11,000 kilometers of coastline, including its own exclusive sea The Gulf of California and the second largest reef in the world, home to 44,000 archaeological sites.

Mexico is also one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world hosting up to 12% of the world’s species, while its gastronomy is Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity according to UNESCO.

This diverse tourism offering has seen Mexico see a significant increase in tourists from the UK with 458,932 tourists visiting in 2014 – a 10.8% increase on 2013 visitors. Furthermore, for the first quarter of 2015 UK visitors to the country totaled at 95,821, a 13.5% increase on the same period last year. An increase in air capacity between the UK and Mexico will help increase tourism numbers with Aeromexico increasing from three to five flights a week from London Heathrow and Mexico City in June.

World Travel Market, Senior Director, Simon Press said: “I am delighted Mexico is the Premier Partner for WTM 2015. The Year of Mexico in the UK is a great cultural exchange of which travel and tourism is central.

“World Travel Market is the perfect platform to promote Mexico’s unique tourism offering and help facilitate further growth in its travel industry.”
