Aruba Airlines, Aerolineas Argentinas bring bew international service to MIA

Airport’s robust Latin American-Caribbean network expands again.

MIAMI – Miami International Airport welcomed a new international carrier – and an exciting new international destination – last week with the introduction of Miami-Aruba service by new carrier Aruba Airlines and first-ever Miami-Cordoba service aboard longtime airline partner Aerolineas Argentinas. With the addition of Aruba Airlines, MIA now offers service on 102 passenger and cargo carriers, more than any other U.S. airport. For its part, Cordoba, Argentina represents the airport’s 31st non-stop destination in South America.

Aruba Airlines’ inaugural Miami service arrived at MIA on Friday, July 3, and the carrier is scheduled to operate a total of five weekly Miami-Aruba flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays using an Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights are scheduled to arrive in Miami at 1:30 p.m. and depart for Aruba at 3:00 p.m. Argentina’s flag carrier launched the new Miami-Cordoba service the following day. Flights from MIA to the South American country’s second-largest city will operate twice weekly – Saturdays and Sundays – using Aerolineas Argentinas’ Airbus A340-300 aircraft. Inbound flights are scheduled to arrive in Miami at 8:15 p.m. and departures to Cordoba are scheduled for 10:15 p.m.

“Our customers deserve choices when it comes to air service, and MIA is proud to provide two great new options with Aruba Airlines and Aerolineas Argentinas’ direct service to Cordoba,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. “MIA remains committed to strengthening its unrivalled Latin America and Caribbean network, even as we pursue new air service in untapped global markets.”

MIA is scheduled to add additional international carriers and destinations before the end of the year. Four-Star carrier Austrian Airlines is scheduled to begin Miami-Vienna service on October 16, while fellow European Four-Star carrier Turkish Airlines begins daily Miami-Istanbul flights on October 25.
