Aeroflot hold final Public Council meeting of 2015

The discussion highlighted the need to develop and implement systemic solutions to strengthen the industry and to increase business responsibility.

MOSCOW – Aeroflot held the final session in 2015 of its Public Council. The meeting was chaired by legendary figure-skating coach Tatiana Tarasova. The agenda included issues related to recent events in Russia’s civil aviation industry and the consequences of Transaero’s withdrawal from the market. In line with a Government decision, Aeroflot Group carried most of the nearly two million passengers holding Transaero tickets for travel before December 15, and has also created jobs for almost half of Transaero’s staff – approximately 6,000 people. The discussion highlighted the need to develop and implement systemic solutions to strengthen the industry and to increase business responsibility.

The meeting also discussed increasing accessibility in civil aviation. The session reviewed a report on efforts to ensure comfortable and hassle-free travel for passengers with disabilities, both on the ground and in the air. Participants heard at first hand from a disabled passenger, who was invited as a special guest to share experience and make specific recommendations for improvements.

“Aeroflot is a socially responsible company, which is why it pays particular attention to the issues that are vital for the whole of society,” Tatiana Tarasova said.

At the end of the working session, the Public Council chairman wished Russia’s largest airline and the whole Russian aviation industry a prosperous and safe New Year and success in solving the challenges that the industry faces.

They had the opportunity to visit the heart of the city – Old Trafford, Manchester United’s “Theatre of Dreams” – to learn about the club’s history, have a sightseeing tour of the city and even play football at one of the club’s training grounds – The Cliff, which used to host the first team and was played on by the likes of David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Paul Scholes.

Aleksei Mavlonazorov (@atmolex) said after the event: “I had the most amazing time meeting Manchester United legends Sir Alex Ferguson, Gary Pallister and Albert Morgan at Old Trafford.
