60% of Ryanair customers have never had a winter getaway

Tenerife most popular destination this winter.

Ryanair published the results of a winter travel survey of over 1,500 UK and Irish Ryanair customers, which found:

  • 60% of customers had never been on a winter getaway
  • 50% of customers had not been abroad for the last 6 months
  • Tenerife is the most popular destination this winter, followed by Salzburg, Rome, Barcelona, London and Lisbon
  • Winter sun holidays are most popular with UK travellers, while Irish customers prefer city breaks

In terms of Christmas gifts, the best presents customers had received were:

  • Surprise trips abroad
  • Travel vouchers
  • Jewellery
  • Tablet computers
  • Concert tickets

And the worst were:

  • Socks (especially Christmas themed)
  • Christmas jumpers
  • Household cleaning products
  • Toiletries
  • Household appliances

George Clooney, David Beckham and Simon Cowell were the male guests customers would most like to fly in for Christmas dinner, with Cheryl Cole, Jennifer Lawrence and Beyonce the most popular female guests.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said: “Our survey showed that 6 out of 10 Ryanair customers had never been on a winter break, with Tenerife being the most popular winter hotspot this season, and surprise trips and travel vouchers the best Christmas presents received. So there’s never been a better time to bin the novelty socks and give your nearest and dearest the gift of flying this Christmas with Ryanair flight vouchers.

Starting from just €25/£25, flight vouchers are the perfect stocking filler, and while we can’t promise that George Clooney or Cheryl Cole will fly over for dinner, you’ll certainly be the star in your household this festive season by giving your family and friends the choice of Europe’s largest selection of destinations.”
