Poken expands team with high-profile meetings and events industry hire

Christina Tzavellas joins Poken as a 25-year business strategist within the meetings, convention and tradeshow industry.

Poken, the 360° event platform, announces the appointment of a new Senior Sales and Business Development Manager focusing on the US associations market.

Christina Tzavellas joins Poken as a 25-year business strategist within the meetings, convention and tradeshow industry. She is a veteran of the trade show and events industry, having held previous executive positions at the Institute of Supply Chain Management where she managed domestic and international conferences, tradeshows, annual education series and customised leadership and training development for Fortune 100 corporations.

Christina’s career continued at Meeting Professionals International and most recently at the International Association of Exhibitions and Events in partnership sales and business development, responsible for exponential business increase and for partnerships with non-traditional technology-based business units. Christina created and taught the first Meeting Planning course at Arizona State University, which now offers a degree programme in Tourism Development and Management with an emphasis in meeting management. She will help to bring further awareness of Poken to association professionals as part of her new role.

Speaking of her new role, Christina says: “Poken provides technology-based solutions that ease meeting management, expand attendee engagement and increase revenue and sponsorship margins. Planners that integrate Poken into their events say, ‘I love Poken!’ And, planners who first discover Poken say, ‘I have to have Poken in my meetings’. Clearly, Poken is setting a new industry standard and I couldn’t agree more.”

Poken’s CEO Stephane Doutriaux adds: “Christina brings key industry knowledge to Poken, and she is also highly appreciated within the event industry for her energy, her creativity and her ability to get people to work together. As Poken is evolving into becoming a full-featured event technology platform we are working with clients that appreciate the guidance and support that our team, which includes seasoned professionals like Christina, can provide especially as more organisations make key technology decisions.”

Christina will be based in Manhattan with a satellite office in Phoenix/Scottsdale.
