Brian Horsburgh joins Open the Door

Mr. Horsburgh will be working to develop North American representation services for international convention centers and destinations whose focus is on business events and international conferences.

BOSTON, MA – Open the Door announced that Brian Horsburgh has joined the team as Vice President, Business Development. In this capacity, Mr. Horsburgh will be working to develop North American representation services for international convention centers and destinations whose focus is on business events and international conferences.

“We are excited to welcome Brian to our team,” said Christina Pappas, President, Open the Door. “He brings a new dynamic to our group and with his help, we hope to fill a gap in the market for convention centers and destinations that are looking for experienced representation in North America.”

A 25-year veteran of the event industry in the venue management sector, Brian spent 15 years at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Center (AECC). He began his work with AECC in 2000 as the Head of Conference Sales. He then became Director of Sales, responsible for all sectors, Conferences, Exhibitions, Banqueting and Entertainment Events such as Pop Concerts. In 2008, he was promoted to Managing Director/CEO of the AECC. He oversaw a four-fold revenue growth over a ten-year period, to March 2015.

Mr. Horsburgh spent four years as Chair of ICCA UK & l Chapter, two years as Venue Representative on the ICCA Global Board, and three years as Board Member of VisitAberdeen destination marketing organization. Based between Orlando, Florida and Aberdeen, UK, Horsburgh is a member of IEEE, ASME, MPI and Chartered Institute of Marketing.
