Visa required for Malaysians to enter Indonesia other than for social visit
Malaysians travelling to Indonesia for any reason other than a social visit are required to obtain a visa, the Malaysian Immigration Department said.
It said in a statement that this was to avoid any legal action against them by any of the Indonesian authorities for abuse of the social visit pass.
The visa can be obtained at the Indonesian embassy or consular offices in the country.
Malaysians are now allowed to visit Indonesia without a visa for up to 30 days.
The social visit pass is issued only for tourism, the statement said.
A spokesman of the department said the visa requirement was imposed because many Malaysians had abused their social visit pass by engaging in business, resulting in legal action against them. (BERNAMA-TNA)
