Lineas Aereas Azteca selects JFK airport
Lineas Aereas Azteca announced that it has selected JFK’s Terminal 4 for its first East Coast gateway, joining 50 airlines already flying from the airport’s only privately-operated terminal. Azteca will begin its New York operations on March 14, 2006, offering three flights a week to Monterrey and Puebla, Mexico.

“We are pleased to bring our service to the Big Apple and particularly to John F. Kennedy Airport’s Terminal 4, where our passengers will have the best travel experience possible,” said Sergio Garrido, director of Lineas Aereas Azteca. “We look forward to providing a low-cost, high-quality connection between New York and Mexico. Terminal 4’s team has worked with us to bring service to New York quickly and smoothly. This new route will increase tourism to these two beautiful cities in Mexico.”

Lineas Aereas Azteca will provide service to Mexico on its Boeing 737-700, offering 136 low-cost, economy seats. Flights will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Azteca currently flies to destinations throughout Mexico, including Acapulco and Cancun. The airline offers service to select U.S. cities, including Los Angeles and Oakland, making New York the only east coast city served.

“We welcome Azteca to the Terminal 4 family, and are certain that these two Mexican cities will be well served by this new service. Azteca’s selection of Terminal 4 is another example that we are truly New York’s and John F. Kennedy Airport’s gateway to the world,” said Janice Holden, vice president of marketing and business development for JFK IAT, LLC. Vicky Karantzavelou - Tuesday, March 14, 2006
