Greece and South Korea tourism cooperation strengthenes ties
The visit of the South Korean president Roh Moo-Hyun in Greece marked a new era in the two countries relations after the signing of agreements in maritime and tourism. Greek President Karolos Papoulias and Greek Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamalnis met with the president of South Korea and discussed of a closer cooperation bewteen the two countries in many fields.

Ms. Fani Petralia the Minister of Tourism development in Greece and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Commerce of South Korea Mr. Ban signed the agreement for tourism.

Ms. Petralia and Mr. Ban agreed to develop and enhance the tourism cooperation between the two countries through various initiatives such as the facilitation of the tourists of the two coutries, the development of a mutual tourism promotion and to ease the investments of Greek and South Korean enterpreneurs in their tourism – related fields.

Moreover the two Ministers agreed the exchange of information regarding the training in the labour force that works in the tourism industry and promote the cooperation among their tourist offices in order to increase the tourists` numbers in the two countries.

The signing of these two important agreements would strengthen the already broad institutional framework for the further development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, said Greek President Papoulias.

The accords we signed help in the establishment of a model of mutually beneficial cooperation in sectors of high importance in both countries, the South Korean president told reporters after the meeting, expressing expectations for the development of cooperation in the sector of technology as well.
