Britons flee the UK weather and head to sunny Euro cities
Following a disappointing rainy summer, Britons are now desperately booking short breaks to southern Mediterranean cities to make up for a lack of sunshine according to online travel and leisure retailer lastminute.com.

lastminute.com’s latest figures show that city break packages are extremely popular for the end of this summer with an average 40% traffic increase to the site. The figures also demonstrate that destinations with guaranteed sunshine are doing particularly well:

Record bookings have been noticed in the following cities year on year:

John Bevan, Managing Director for lastminute.com UK commented “This trend confirms how upset Britons are that there was no summer in the UK this year. Following the beautiful days we had in 2006, a lot of people decided to holiday at home or stay in the UK to enjoy the country at its best, and now want to go away to catch a glimpse of summer whilst they still can”.
