As TRINITY International Hospitality Studies prepares for its 2006-2007 academic year, it does so, not only within the context of its past successes, but also within the framework of a series of positive changes and developments that have occurred this year.In support of TRINITY's original mandate to educate and train executives for the hospitality and tourism industry of the 21 st Century through programs of study of the highest caliber, and in light of several important changes during the past year, TRINITY has undertaken several initiatives to enrich and expand its program offerings and to adapt them to the unfolding needs of the industry.
Among other things:
- In an effort to ensure that students who are citizens of EU countries are able to obtain high quality, affordable education in hospitality and tourism management in Europe, TRINITY has established a differentiated pricing policy for its programs of study.
Under this policy, students who are citizens of EU countries fall under the category of “home students” and are entitled to lower tuition fees. Specifically, instead of paying € 600 per course (€ 6000 per year based on a course load of 10 courses per academic year), “home students” will now pay € 450 per course (€4500 per academic year).
We trust that this change will encourage students to take full advantage of the opportunities and privileges afforded them as citizens of an expanded Europe.
New courses have been developed to reflect a new emphasis that technological advances have brought to hospitality and tourism management. For instance, TRINITY has just added a new core course to its Convention, Event and Exhibition major that deals with the role of technology in creating special effects for conventions, exhibitions and events. Under TRINITY's internship/practicum program, several of TRINITY's students have already been training with companies in this area of specialization. - TRINITY's scholarship competition for the coming academic year was held in May and resulted in winners from Romania, India and Moldova - a reflection of the growing internationalization of TRINITY's student body.
- As the student body of TRINITY grows and diversifies, so does TRINITY's faculty and staff. Notable here are the recent arrivals of TRINITY's new Marketing Manager from Scotland and a new psychology professor/counselor from Keele University in England.
- As a result of ongoing talks with Southern New Hampshire University of USA, this October, TRINITY will begin a “bridging/qualifying” year for students interested in obtaining a Masters of Science Degree in Hospitality Administration. This will pave the way for students to enter SNHU's Master's Degree program in October, 2007.
- A new partnership has been formed between Trinity International Hospitality Studies and the Hoteliers' Association of Heraklion. The partnership is based on a set of interconnected common interests and is perhaps best characterized by the Hoteliers' Association's commitment to provide internship/practicum opportunities for TRINITY's students and to hire its graduates on a priority basis.
TRINITY looks forward to continuing success in the 2006-2007 academic year and is committed to responding creatively to the challenges posed by Europe's dynamic hospitality and tourism industry.
