Record UK visitors to Corfu
Despite the Kosovo crisis the resort island of Corfu<.> welcomed over one million visitors from the United Kingdom this past year, setting a new record high. This represents a 26% increase over the previous year. UK visitors account for 50% of charter passengers to Corfu. Further increase are anticipated in 2000. One agency, Argo Travel, is raising agent commission to 12% for early bookings on seat-only sales on charter flights to Greece and Cyprus. Anticipating rises in tourist traffic of some 50%.
