CarTrawler launches environmental CSR initiative
CarTrawler, the car rental technology and distribution company, has launched a new Environmental Initiative and its CSR Policy. The launch of the ‘WORLDWIDE 100’ scheme, where a tree is planted for every 100 car rental reservations made through the CarTrawler reservation system, has enabled the company to pledge to plant enough oak trees throughout 2008 to fill an area the size of Giants Stadium.

‘WORDLWIDE 100’
has been launched in conjunction with The Curlew Trust, a charity enabling biodiversity through the planting of 18,000 hardwood trees and the reintroduction of The Golden Eagle, Red Kite and White-Tailed Eagle into all extinct areas, which CarTrawler will be supporting though annual donations to the charity.

The company has also appointed Audrey Myles as its Environmental Officer charged with ensuring that the four “Rs” - Reduce, Reuse, Repair and Recycle - are upheld and that new Green initiatives are at the forefront of CarTrawler’s agenda.

“CarTrawler has long been involved with a number of environmental charities and organisations, and supports the reduction of CO2 emissions through conservation projects, so a formal CSR policy is a natural step for us” comments Audrey Myles. “We are therefore delighted to launch it with the announcement of our partnership with The Curlew Trust.”

“It has always been our opinion that travel companies need to consider their carbon footprint keenly, actively seeking ways to work in harmony with the environment. As a company involved in travel distribution car rental this is even more relevant to us and we are keen to have a proactive environmental position.”
