Passenger demand rose strongly in February says ACI

ACI airports report that passenger demand rose strongly in February 2008 with the PaxFlash participants registering a 6 percent increase compared to February 2007. International passenger traffic posted very strong growth, rising by almost 10 percent while domestic was up by 4 percent. The first two months of 2008 show an overall 5 percent rise in traffic, with international traffic up by 8 percent and domestic up by 2 percent.

ACI Director of Economics Andreas Schimm comments, “We see extremely solid passenger traffic growth in February, even adjusting for the extra day in February this year that boosts month on month comparisons to 2007. Looking at the twelve month rolling period, we still see a rise of over 7 percent in international passenger traffic and a worldwide overall increase of 5 percent, which is excellent news for airport business and global economic development.”
