Puerto Rico Tourism Company to host first market place for small tour operators

The Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), Terestella Gonzalez Denton, has announced the beginning of a series of events aimed to increase business opportunities for local travel agencies, travel agents, and hotels and inns. The event, called "Your opportunity for Business,” is a Market Place organized by the PRTC in the Porta del Sol region, on the island’s west coast.

"The development of these initiatives addresses our continuous solidified positioning of Puerto Rico as a top tourism destination in the Caribbean,” stated Gonzalez Denton.

She went on to add, "one of the primary goals for meetings among members of the industry is to develop strategies that allow us to continuously increase our tourist attraction offerings, especially in the regions outside San Juan, and allow local tourism partners to participate in this growth. We hope that this interchange will allow new product and package developments to provide our visitors more offerings and greater options.”

The Executive Director explained that along with various regionalization efforts taking place, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company has decided to celebrate the Market Place initiative in the island’s designated tourism regions: Porta del Sol, Porta Caribe, East Coast/Central, and San Juan Metro.

Gonzalez Denton added that the Puerto Rico Tourism Company’s next step is to plan a centralized Market Place event that will provide the necessary tools for the development of additional small and medium sized tourism businesses—guided by the Economic Development Bank with help from The Key to your Business (La Llave para tu Negocio, in Spanish).
