The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is protecting customers booked with Hellenic Voyages Ltd after the company ceased trading on 8 May. Hellenic Voyages Ltd, which was based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, traded under the names of Sunescapes and Quickescapes and offered flights, accommodation and package holidays to Greece and Cyprus.
The company held Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL) number 5665, which lapsed on 31 March 2008. The CAA holds a bond totalling £1,254,000, which will be used to refund and repatriate customers.
Customers with bookings should not travel and those with air packages or flights should claim a refund from the CAA.
Advice for customers currently abroad
The CAA will be making arrangements to ensure customers can remain in their holiday accommodation and fly home as planned.
