Communications giant selects new self issued UK corporate card for on-the-road spend
AirPlus International, the leading global business travel payment provider announced today that it has won BT as a global client. The contract that was signed on 01 July 2008, means that BT will be using AirPlus’ lodge and corporate card solutions to pay for all its business travel. They will also benefit from AirPlus’ state-of-the-art online management information system, the AirPlus Information Manager that will allow them to consolidate and analyse all their travel spend across the globe.
BT will transfer most of their pre-trip travel spend onto the lodge card product, the AirPlus Company Account. For the on-the-road expenses of their travellers, BT has decided to implement the new AirPlus Corporate Card, due to be launched by the end of 2008. Whilst AirPlus currently issue corporate cards in cooperation with a bank partner to many clients, with AirPlus issuing the centrally settled lodge account, the decision has been taken to develop its own, self issued MasterCard product in the UK. Together with the lodge card product, the new corporate cards will offer clients a complete, totally integrated solution for their business travel payment.
Yael Klein, Managing Director of AirPlus International Ltd, commented on the move, “We are very excited about issuing our own corporate cards in the UK. We have reached this decision as a result of growth opportunities in the UK market and client demand for an AirPlus solution which incorporates both the lodged account and corporate cards. We are delighted with this development and look forward to offering our clients our own corporate cards. The fact that BT is amongst the clients moving onto our self issued cards shows the high degree of trust they have in AirPlus and we are very confident that we will deliver an outstanding product for them.”
