Dublin –Top literary hotspot for tourists
Dublin has been rated as one of the world’s top literary hotspots for tourists by the popular travel website TripAdvisor.com. Dublin was fourth on the list beating off stiff competition from the hometowns of international literary greats such as Dostoyevsky and Hemingway.

The capital’s enviable status as a ‘must-see’ literary destination was firmly reinforced in a Sunday Times list of ‘the World’s 50 Best Walks’ with Dublin’s popular ‘Literary Pub Crawl’ ranked number four.

Dublin has inspired many writers and the city and county have provided a vibrant setting for some of the world’s best-loved novels from James Joyce’s Ulysses to Roddy Doyle’s The Commitments.

A city full of literary landmarks, Dublin museums such as the Dublin Writers Museum on Parnell Square, James Joyce Tower Museum in Sandycove and the Shaw Birthplace on Synge Street draw visitors from overseas and provide a wealth of information and insight into the lives and works of Dublin’s many great writers. Walking tours like the Literary Pub Crawl and the self guided iWalk audio podcast ‘In the Steps of Ulysses’, available for free download on Dublin’s official online tourist office visitdublin.com, have proven hugely popular with visitors to the capital.
