Leading northern airline set to offer the highest baggage allowance in the leisure airline sector
Jet2.com passengers are set to be spoilt for choice when it comes to packing their holiday wardrobe following an announcement today that the leading northern airline today increased its hold baggage allowance by a whopping 30% - from 17kg to 22kg.

The new 22kg limit means that Jet2.com now offers the most generous baggage allowance in the leisure airline sector with operators such as Monarch, Easyjet, Thomsonfly, Aer Lingus, Flybe and BMI Baby offering 20kg and Ryanair just 15kg.

The increased hold baggage allowance will apply to all flights from 1st April 2009. It will also apply to all flights booked after 20th October and taken before 31st March 2009.

Holidaymakers travelling with Jet2holidays.com will also benefit from the increase and will continue to receive one free item of baggage per person.

This announcement is yet more good news for passengers following the launch of 22 brand new routes for Summer 2009 across Jet2.com’s six northern bases and the announcement last week that Jet2.com has been voted the UK’s best short-haul airline by readers of the Guardian and Observer.

Jet2.com has also revealed that it is bucking the current downturn in the airline and travel sector after its parent company, Dart Group plc, announced record half-year profits of £30 million and record load factors of more than 90 per cent last month.

Philip Meeson, Jet2.com boss said: “At Jet2.com we are committed to going that extra mile to give our customers an even better deal when they travel with us. People’s holidays are extremely important to them and we want to ensure that their experience is enjoyable from start to finish.

“Allowing our passengers to travel with 22kg of hold baggage means that they now have room to pack that extra outfit, or can leave space to bring home even more souvenirs from their travels.

“We are now leading the way in the leisure airline sector when it comes to the customer service that we offer. I am confident that this, along with our low fares, will be an important factor in our customers returning to us again and again.”
