Bookings by touring bands are way up
According to Alexandre Chemla, President, ALTOUR, the entertainment sector is booming. Bookings by touring bands are way up. “Though leisure travel is down, ultra-luxury travel is doing well,” Chemla said. “We are seeing this especially in the high-end cruise sector where suite and penthouse demand outstrips supply and there is great interest in exotic destinations like Southern India, the Maldives and Zanzibar. Destinations like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, for example, are fostering bookings for the Crystal Cruises 2010 World Cruise.” He also said that the destination weddings business shows no sign of slowing, even in this economy. “Multi-generational travel – grandparents taking the grandchildren on vacation seems recession proof. We’re even finding kids being taken out of school for this type of family experience” Chemla added. “Altour’s Personal Enrichment Series – one example creates five different cruises departures ‘starring’ five world-class master sommeliers – has been wildly popular, proving that if you tap into people’s passions and create a memorable experience, they will book it.” Vicky Karantzavelou - Tuesday, December 02, 2008
