The prestigious American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, the only organisation that rewards excellence in the global luxury travel and leisure industry, presented its Five Star Diamond Awards in Cannes during the International Luxury Travel Market. The award ceremony was held in the presence of Miss Univers, Miss USA and Donald Trump Junior. This year, the Royal Mougins Golf Resort, which opened its new hotel and spa in 2008, was the winner in the “Best Golf & Spa Hotel” category . A well-deserved award, and one that symbolises perfection.

Four other awards were presented to winners from around the world in the categories Restaurants, Chefs, Airlines and Cruise Lines. These awards are highly sought after in the luxury sector, and recompense outstanding people and establishments for their extraordinary commitment in terms of quality, attitude, service and hospitality in each respective category and classification. The most professional establishments are selected on the basis of rigorous specifications, verified by demanding, experienced inspectors.

The jury, which is chaired by Joseph Cinque and comprised of talented leaders in the luxury industry who are also regular travellers, has already bestowed its prestigious awards on establishments with a reputation for the highest standards, such as the Hotel Martinez in Cannes, the Meurice in Paris and the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat. The chefs and restaurants selected by the AAHS’s guide include such stars of gastronomy as Paul Bocuse, Pierre Gagnaire and Joel Robuchon, and establishments such as Alain Ducasse’s “Louis XV” in Monaco and Ferran Adria’s “El Bulli” in Spain.
