Cyprus tourism revenue, arrivals, rise in November
Revenue from tourism rose for the first time in five months in November, rising by 6.8% to reach EUR 72.4 mln, compared with EUR 67.8 million in the same month of 2007, according to the latest figures from the Passenger Survey.
 
Tourism arrivals also rose for the first time in five months, increasing by 3.8% to reach 97,900, compared with 94,741 in November 2007. For the period January - November 2008 revenue from tourism is estimated at EUR 1,741.2 mln, a fall of 3.6% compared with EUR 1,806.7 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2007.
For the period January - November 2008, arrivals of tourists totalled 2,331,622, a fall of 0.5% compared with the 2,342,338 recorded in the corresponding period of 2007.

In the first 11 months of the year arrivals from the UK, Cyprus’s most important market, supplying more than 50% of tourists, were down 3.0% compared with the same period of 2007. Arrivals from Germany, the second largest market, were down 5.3%, while Greece was down 5.1%. On the other hand, arrivals from non-eurozone Sweden were up 3.4%, from the United Arab Emirates up 16.7%, while arrivals from Russia showed the strongest performance, up 24.2%.
