IACA welcomes stimulating decisions of Egyptian Ministries of Tourism and Civil Aviation
The International Air Carrier Association (IACA) represents 34 leisure airlines and accounts for up to 50% of flights to the main Egyptian leisure destinations. IACA welcomes the initiatives and decisions taken recently by the Minister of Tourism, Zoheir Garana. Assistant Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou stated in a press article (Daily News, 4 Jan): “The Minister of Tourism has agreed to exempt hotel establishments from tourism promotion fees which the Ministry collects from the hotels to lessen their burdens during the financial crisis". IACA further received information that Egypt's Aviation Minister had agreed to reduce landing and take-off fees, as well as ground-handling fees, and to waive them entirely in certain cases.

Luc Geens, IACA’s Manager Ground Operations comments: “IACA has established over the years excellent links with the Ministry of Tourism, the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authorities and the Egyptian Airports Company. Egypt is undertaking huge efforts to increase the quality of services and attract additional traffic and tourists by offering interesting incentives to the aviation world. IACA is looking forward to the speedy formalization of the offered incentives, enabling the incorporation of savings into the holiday package prices that will be sold soon”. Luc Geens concluded: “In order to maintain Egypt’s attractiveness for tourism and to cope with the current worldwide economical crisis, it is vital that the Egyptian Government helps the Aviation industry with incentives like those offered today”.
