Wizz Air raises Prague capacity by 50%
Wizz Air, the largest low fare - low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced that it would further expand its Prague operations. As announced previously a third new Airbus A320 aircraft will be added to the airline's Prague base on 27 March 2010. This fleet extension will enable the airline to add new year-round routes as well as summer services and increase frequencies to existing destinations.
With further new routes that will be announced shortly, the capacity growth in April 2010 will represent close to a 50% increase vs. the airline's current operation.
Wizz Air became the largest low cost airline - and second of all carriers - at Prague Airport in August, by transporting over 69,000 passengers. The airline is well on track to carry 470,000 passengers in 2009 and over one million travelers in 2010 on its Czech network.
"Wizz Air offers sustainable low fares on an ever expanding route network. We aim to become the airline of choice for Czech passengers as well as those that visit the Czech Republic. The expansion of our operations in Prague will strengthen our market leadership in the region and customer trust in low cost air travel" said Jozsef Varadi, the airline's Chief Executive Officer.
