Warren Mandelbaum, Head of Revenue Management at Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants, is just one of the distinguished line-up of leading international hospitality industry finance experts participating in a Panel Forum on ‘Revenue Trends’ at the 4th Annual BAHA (British Association of Hospitality Accountants) Hospitality Finance and IT Professionals Conference and Exhibition – to be held on Thursday, 19 November 2009 at the Sofitel Hotel, London Heathrow at Terminal 5.
Mandelbaum - together with fellow panellists Jonathan Langston, Managing Director of TRI Hospitality Consulting; and Robert Barnard, Partner for Hotel Consultancy Services at PKF – will be examining ‘Revenue Trends’ and the value of revenue management skills in the current difficult economic climate, under the adept chairmanship of Professor Peter Jones MBE, Advisor, Edge Foundation.
“We are delighted to welcome such an eminent panel of speakers to examine this vitally important topic,” said BAHA Chief Executive Carl Weldon. “BAHA provides the only industry specific hospitality finance education programme; and the promotion of best practice Revenue Management skills in the hospitality industry is one of our priority concerns at BAHA. Toward this end, in conjunction with Oxford Brookes University we are currently designing a new and unique second route through our Education and Training Programme expressly for Revenue Managers.”
As in previous years, the 2009 BAHA Conference – entitled ‘The Essential Toolkit for Managing the Bottom Line’ – will be supported by an exhibition of IT suppliers, providing delegates with a ‘one stop shop’ to view the latest technologies relevant to the hospitality industry.
Indeed, the latest cutting edge Information Technology (IT) will be one of the key topics and issues at this year’s annual event. Helping to undertake this task will be two top global international authorities on hospitality industry technology – Australia’s leading hospitality technology consultant Ted Horner, Managing Director of E. Horner & Associates, who in 2004 became the first non-US person to be elected to the HITEC Technology Hall of Fame for his contribution to the advancement of technology in the hospitality industry; and Frank Wolfe CAE, Chief Executive of US-based Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) which owns HITEC.
Other highlights will include the ‘BAHA Classic Interview’, which this year will be with one of the world’s leading hoteliers – Meinhard Huck, President of Swissotel Hotels & Resorts. There also will be an environmental Panel Forum, entitled ‘Green and CSR Impact – Responsibilities, Costs and the Bottom Line’; and a programme of highly topical education workshops on subjects ranging from the ‘National Minimum Wage and Hospitality’, to ‘Make Every Penny Count – an Efficient and Cost-effective Back Office’. The one-day event’s grand finale will be a drinks reception and sumptuous three-course Gala Conference Dinner followed by entertainment, making it one of the top social networking occasions on the UK hospitality industry calendar.
