London Oxford Airport sees welcome return of Jersey flights for 2010
Oxford Airport is delighted that C.I. Travel Group has extended its summer service between Oxford and Jersey in the Channel Islands for the 2010 season. The re-introduction of the service is owing to the success of the summer 2009 launch flights on Saturday afternoons.

“Following a successful first year of operation where we saw 93% of seats sold, we are delighted to be able to offer an extended season of operation for the Oxford Jersey route in 2010,” said Robert Mackenzie, Managing Director of C.I. Travel Group. “With flights operating in May & June, as well as in the high season, it will provide opportunities for those who prefer to travel outside of school holidays to enjoy the island in the spring and early summer. With many more UK holiday-takers deserting the Euro-zone in favour of a holiday closer to home, we believe that the route will continue to be popular with both new and existing clients in the Oxford area.”

Direct flights between Oxford and Jersey will start again from 22 May 2010 and operate an extended summer season until 11 September 2010. Forward bookings on the route are already ahead of C.I. Travel Group’s 22 other UK airports operating to the Channel Islands. Oxford Airport also achieved the best passenger ratings for satisfaction when compared to the other regional airports in 2009.

C.I. Travel was the first travel company to offer regular seasonal flights from Oxford, representing the first commercial services at the airport for 20 years. “We are very happy to see the return of the regular Jersey charter fights for 2010,” said London Oxford Airport Managing Director Steve Jones. “The flights will continue to operate from our oxfordjet business aviation terminal, providing passengers with state-of-the-art facilities and the comfort and luxury of our beautifully appointed passenger lounge.

“London Oxford Airport is ideally sized and located for niche, charter operations and we very much look forward to the return of C.I.Travel Group’s link with the Channel Islands next year - the Jersey route is the perfect complement to our new winter service to Geneva, which launched in December, operated by Baboo.”

Jersey is the most southerly of the Channel Islands, located 100 miles south of mainland Britain and just 14 miles off the French coast. The island is renowned for its magnificent sandy beaches, sheltered coves and crystal clear waters. Inland, winding lanes give the visitor the opportunity to appreciate Jersey’s unspoilt and carefully protected countryside, home to many species of fauna and flora not found elsewhere in Britain. The Jersey climate consistently tops the UK resort charts for hours of sunshine and warm temperatures.

Direct daytime flights from London Oxford Airport for 2010 will operate on Saturdays with seat only and inclusive holidays being sold exclusively by C.I. Travel Group’s well-established consumer brands including Discover Jersey and Channel Islands Travel Service. Its Airways Holidays brand is sold through local independent travel agents.
