Last-minute Brits to bag World Cup flights
Tailor-made tour operator and retailer, Travelmood has revealed that last-minute Brits can still get to South Africa for the World Cup if they are prepared to fly indirectly. Whilst direct flights are hard to come by, the long-haul specialist is advising customers that they can still grab a slice of the action, if they fly via the Middle East or Kenya.

Travelmood, which has fares available from as little as £559 return, is also recommending that travellers make the most of flying an indirect route by staying for a few days in their stopover destination and enjoying two countries in one holiday.

“We are telling customers who have decided at the last-minute that they would like to experience South Africa during the World Cup that they can still do it, if they fly with a Middle Eastern airline such as Etihad or Emirates via Abu Dhabi or Dubai or even Kenya Airways via Nairobi,” says Clare Tobin, managing director of the UK TUI Specialist Long-Haul Division.

“Whilst a lot of the hotels are booked up and many of those which do have availability are applying minimum stay rules, particularly in the towns and cities where the matches are being played, there is still accommodation available in South Africa during the World Cup. Availability is easier in some of the major tourist areas, for example along The Garden Route and with the flights selling for as little as £559 for a Kenya Airways return fare, via Nairobi, a World Cup holiday doesn’t have to break the bank. Holidaymakers also have the option to enhance their trip by staying a few nights in their stopover destination either on the way out or on the return, at no extra cost.”
