Following Greece and Turkey budget operator Goldtrail Holidays going into administration, flight comparison website Skyscanner.net has seen a surge in searches for flights to Turkey and Greece as Brits scramble to make alternative holiday plans.
Commenting on the situation Frank Skivington, Skyscanner’s Sales & Marketing Director, said: “Whilst reports show that alternative flights for the majority of holidaymakers left stranded by the collapse have now been organised, many more customers have found themselves without their planned summer holiday. Goldtrail carried around 250,000 passengers a year so the failure of the business has resulted in huge numbers of passengers seeking alternative flights. It is therefore not surprising that in the immediate aftermath we saw flight searches to Greece and Turkey rocket by 154% compared to the previous week.”
