New Director of the Americas of Maison de la France
Jean-Philippe Perol joins the New York office of Maison de la France in his new role as Director of the Americas. He formerly held the position of Director General of Maison de la France in Paris since 1998.
Mr. Perol has held many positions in the tourism field during a career spanning thirty-one years, both working for Maison de la France and in the private sector. In 1972, he began working in the marketing department for Air France, where he served as Assistant Director of South America and Director for the Amazon region. He left in 1979 to create his own travel agency, Safari Tourism, of which he was the director until 1981, when Safari became part of Wagon-Lits Tourism. Mr. Perol served at Wagon-Lits as the Director for Brazil and the Operations Director for France.
Mr. Perol began his tenure at Maison de la France in 1988 as the Director of Marketing, and held many other positions within the organization, including Director of Latin America and of Germany. Other positions he has held include membership in the Brazilian Association of Travel Agents, the Vice President Incoming of the French Association of Travel Agents (known as SNAV) and the Vice President of the European Travel Commission.
Through his many experiences worldwide, Mr. Perol is fluent in English, Spanish and Portugese, besides his native French, and is conversational in German. In his spare time, he enjoys chess and fishing for peacock bass in the Amazon.
