ICAO Chief expresses satisfaction over safety standards at Egyptian airports
President Hosni Mubarak received visiting Chief of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Dr. Asaad Qutaiyt Monday morning at the Heliopolis Presidency HQ.
In statements following the meeting, the ICAO official said discussions dealt with ICAO programs of technical safety and security at airports worldwide.
He said that ICAO experts expressed satisfaction with standards of technical safety at Egyptian airports. He added in this respect that Egypt applies the technical safety standards established by the Organization. Egypt is currently hosting the 12th conference on air transport facilities and safety which is a very important conference, he said.
On his part, Civil Aviation Minister Ahmed Shafik said a report has been submitted to President Mubarak on activities by both his ministry and the conference in session.
He expressed hope that the ICAO conference would come up with the aspired-for resolutions and recommendations. He pointed out that Egypt was among the founding countries of ICAO and is a member of its executive council in Montreal.
The Cairo conference organized by ICAO and opened Monday by Premier Dr. Atef Ebeid aims at reconsidering facilities and services offered to passengers.
