The ICC appoints director
Nick Waight has been appointed in the new position of Director of The ICC, Birmingham and will assume overall responsibility for the venue.

The 37-year-old, who has been with The NEC Group since 1989 and previously held the position of Divisional Director of Conference Sales, has worked his way through the sales team and management levels to assume the top role at The ICC.

He said: Over the years it has been acknowledged that we are the number one conference centre in the UK, now we have got there we don`t want to lose that position. We want to remain number one.

I want to maintain the extraordinary success of The ICC and show people what a fantastic facility we have. Our continuing programme of initiatives aimed at enhancing visitor experience confirms our determination to stay in tune with our customers` needs and to remain at the top for many more years to come.

Recent developments have included the introduction of new roles and a new look for the mall area; major investment in
technical equipment; and the launch of flowers@theicc - a new in-house professional floristry service.

The appointment is part of ongoing initiatives to drive the business forward, which also sees Catherine Caiger assuming the role of Head of Business Operations ICC. Catherine will be responsible for the management of key business areas and will also deputise for Nick when necessary.

Liz Carnell will also be taking up the role of Head of Conference Sales ICC and will be responsible for managing the Sales Team. Theodore Koumelis - Tuesday, June 29, 2004
