Low cost airline chiefs convene at World Route Development Forum
The new trade body for Europe`s low cost airlines is to use this year`s Routes forum to hold its first AGM.
The European Low Fares Airline Association (ELFAA) was launched in January to provide low cost airlines with a more effective lobbying voice with EU airline industry regulators in Brussels.
The 11 airlines it represents, including many of Europe`s fastest growing airlines, such as Ryanair, Air Berlin and Hapag Lloyd Express, are to use the 10th anniversary of Routes, the World Route Development Forum, to review their progress so far.
Jan Skeels, Secretary General of ELFAA, said: All our airline members are regular participants at Routes, so it makes perfect sense to hold our AGM in the midst of a forum discussing our industry`s wider issues.
Given that there will also be low fare airlines present at Routes from Asia, the United States and the Middle East, the Forum also offers a unique meeting opportunity for the international low fare airline community.
Mike Howarth, Managing Director of Routes, commented: ELFAA`s decision to co-locate their first AGM at Routes really underlines the position of Routes as the leading international business development event for the international airline and airport communities. We are more than delighted to act as a host for this prestigious organisation and hope to develop further commercial initiatives with ELFAA in the future.
Routes 2004 is in Madrid, on September 25th to 28th.
