Greece rates its hotels
The Hellenic Tourism Organisation (EOT<.>) has forwarded plans for a hotel star-rating system to Greek hotelier federations, employee unions and other industry groups and is seeking their views.

The proposed system outlines a series of operational requirements which all hotels of the various categories must meet, in addition to providing basic installations.

Under a section whereby hotels are marked on various criteria, such as service.
All hotels must meet EOT`s new technical specifications in relation to proper use of the land in question as well as architectural studies.

In order to receive a certain rating, hotel operators must ensure their facilities operate according to legal guidelines, possess the official EOT badge and have been built in line with approved architectural plans.

Furthermore, all hotels seeking to be included in this new system must meet the needs of individuals with special needs as well as fire safety regulations. Helen Iatrou - Monday, October 09, 2000
